Jumpin' June Jamboree

The Summer Reading Program Kickoff Celebration (Jumpin’ June Jamboree) will be held on Saturday, June 7th from 11am-2pm. Hang out with our reading heroes, register for the reading program, and participate in games, crafts, & activities. There will be a FREE lunch for every child, a gift bag, Pixie's Face Painting, a Cascading Carlos performance, Bouncy House Inflatables and more.

2025 Summer Reading Program

Join us for the 1st big program of the 2025 Summer Reading Program "Color Our World" with NJ Snake Man, Steve Lengen. NJ Snake Man brings the zoo to you! He will have a fun and interactive program with snakes and possibly some other reptiles. It will be held on Tuesday, June 17th @ 11am. FREE and open to the public.

Board of Trustees: Applications Being Accepted

Our Board of Trustees is seeking applicants for a five-year term on the board. Interested parties need to submit a letter and resumé to the Bridgeville Public Library by June 16, 2025. Applicants must be a resident of the Woodbridge School District, preferably within the Bridgeville post office service area. Meetings are normally held on the third Wednesday of the month at 9:30am, which are open to the public.

Community Bridge to Wellness

Throughout the year, join the Bridgeville Library for our wellness journey-promoting mental and physical health by providing many different programs for everyone. All programs are FREE and all are welcome! Chair Fitness Classes have been extended through June on Mondays @ 9:30am! Yoga classes with Bonnie are on Wednesdays @ 6pm through May. Our self-led walking groups are starting Wednesday, April 23rd. Meet in the parking lot and walk the Hometown trail. Join us for a grief support group on Saturday, May 17th from 10-11am with Latoya Harris, a Certified Community Health Worker to discuss how to handle grief you may be experiencing. Join us on Monday, June 2nd @ 2pm for a workshop for adults that teaches what stress is, how stress affects the body, mind, emotions, and behavior. The Mental Health Association in Delaware will be presenting. We are offering free community workshops to manage your diabetes presented by the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services Division of Public Health. These workshops will be held at the library every Wednesday, starting June 25th through July 30th from 10am-12:30pm. Register online: HealthyDelaware.org/DSMP.

Family Programs

If you haven't registered already for the Community Bridge to Wellness, visit the library to receive a free health journal and an insulated tote bag. Our self-led walking groups are starting Wednesday, April 23rd. Meet in the parking lot and walk the Hometown trail. Join us with your family for May's Family Fun Night "Artists @ Work" on Thursday, May 15th from 6-8pm. We need your help! The Summer Reading Program theme is “Color Our World” and we need help decorating the library! We will have different art stations available to express your creativity. Your art can be on display all summer! Registration is required. Join us at the Bridgeville Library in partnership with The Cornerstone Community Center for family fun and a cultural experience. This Juneteenth celebration "The Reckoning" will include line dancing, music by DJ Tizzle, food trucks, vendors, a bouncy house and more.

Children's Programs

Join Ms. Hilary for Story Book Corner on Tuesdays at the library at 10am (for ages 3-5). On Wednesdays, it is at 9am for birth-2 years old. Bring your child to the library on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month @11am to read to the L.E.A.P. dog, Oliver. Join Ms. Hilary on Thursday, May 29th from 11am-1pm for Library Learners League Homeschool Group. In May, we will have a 2-hour session for our Business Fair to “sell” and shop for your handmade products. Following the fair, we will discuss the topics of economics & marketing from our April session. Lunch will be provided. Registration is required.

Adult Programs

The Bridgeville Senior Center has Dance Classes on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month @ 11am through May. They are geared for the 55+ age group. Yoga Class with Bonnie (Ananda Yoga) on Wednesdays, through May @ 6pm. The online link is in MORE INFO. Mahjong for adults and open to teens 14+, held on the 2nd and 4th Friday of every month, from 3:30-5:30pm. Registration is requested. Join us for BINGO on Tuesday, June 10th from 3-4pm hosted by PACE Your Life. Emerging Adults (ages 18-35) Tacos & Mocktails on Saturday, May 10th from 12-2pm. Please register. Join us on Friday, May 30th for six 10-minute comedy plays "Funny Shorts" presented by The Heritage Shores Players at the library @ 11am. Light refreshments will be served. Registration is preferred. Join us on Saturday, June 14th from 11am-1pm as we discuss the book selection “Better The Blood” by Michael Bennett, and enjoy a variety of New Zealand inspired cuisine. Registration is required.

Tween/Teen Programs

Mindfulness for ages 14 and under on Tuesday, May 20th at 3:30pm. Please register. Join Ms. Miranda at the library for a fun interactive Book Club on Thursday, May 22nd @3:30pm for ages 8-14. This month's book is "Framed" by James Ponti. Registration is requested. Anime Club on Thursday, May 22nd from 4pm-5pm. You will watch anime together, vote on what to watch next, dive into the stories, discuss characters, plot twists, and everything in between. STEAM TEam Showcase on Wednesday, May 28th @ 1:30pm or 3:00pm for teens and tweens. You will make catapults! FREE Gaming on Saturday, June 21st from 10am-2pm. Play your favorite video games. "My Life Basically" Financial Literacy will be discussed with Kelly Sipple, financial well-being agent from the University of Delaware Extension on Wednesday, June 4th from 4-5pm. Join us with Miranda Collins for a 9 week course of learning to code using the Scratch coding language. These sessions are geared for ages 9-16 and will meet on Mondays at 3pm for 1 hour. The dates are: June 16, 23, 30, July 14, 21, 28, August 4, 18, 25.

CPR Certification Classes

The Bridgeville Library is hosting CPR Certification Classes. A Certified CPR American Heart Association Instructor will be teaching these classes. The cost is $55 per participant to receive certification. A non-certification "Hands-Only" class will be offered an hour before - for free. These will be offered on: Friday, May 2nd: 2pm - Hands Only; 3-7pm Certified. Friday, May 16th: 9am - Hands Only; 10am-2pm Certified. Saturday, June 21st: 9am - Hands Only; 10am-2pm Certified. Registration is required. Class size is limited to 10 participants. Call 302-337-7401 ext. 101 to register.

Genealogy Open Hours

Do you need help researching your family history? Genealogist Alice Min and Tech Supervisor Rachel Lawson will be providing 1-hour consultations every Tuesday at the library between 12-6pm during the month of May. Registration is required by calling 302-337-7401 ext. 101.
