With the safety interest of library staff and patrons in mind, Bridgeville Public Library will close during severe weather or when safety is an issue.
The Bridgeville Public Library does not follow the Woodbridge School District during weather events.
If severe weather conditions force the library to close early, we will make every effort to keep the library accessible and open as long as possible.
The decision to open or close will be at the discretion of the Library Director and/or the designee of the Trustees.
The decision to open late or close early will be at the discretion of the Library Director and/or the designee of the Trustees.
The library may open late, close early or close due to special events. The Board of Trustees approves a list of holiday closings. The list is the updated annually. The library does close the Saturday of Apple Scrapple Festival.
If a bomb threat is received, the library will be evacuated and closed until safety is assured by police authority.
Fines will not be charged for any day on which the library is closed.
This policy is to help ensure the safety of our patrons and staff, and allows for snow removal and the clearing of roads.
If a State of Emergency is called by the Governor of the State or Sussex County Government, each situation will be evaluated by the Library Director and/or the designee of the Trustees to determine the outcome.
